Frequently asked questions
When is a load oversize or overweight in the US?
Over 8'6" wide, 13'6" high (14' in some Western states), 53' long on a standard trailer, or over 80,000 lb gross. Beyond those limits the movement needs state permits on every state along the route, and above set thresholds escorts, route surveys and travel-time restrictions.
Which trailers do you use?
Flatbed and step-deck for tall freight, double-drop and RGN (removable gooseneck) lowboys for heavy machinery, stretch trailers for long steel and beams, multi-axle and modular for superloads. The choice follows the dimensions, weight, center of gravity and lifting points.
How long do permits take?
Routine oversize permits in most states issue within 1–3 business days; superload permits with route surveys and bridge analysis can take 2–4 weeks. Permits are pulled per state, so a Texas-to-Michigan load has five or six of them.
Do you arrange escorts and police?
Yes — pilot cars where width, length or height require them, and police escorts where the state mandates, all included in the quote.
What determines the price?
Trailer type, loaded miles, permits and escorts per state, travel-time restrictions (nights, weekends, holidays) and the chance of a return load. Send the dimensions, weight and addresses and we quote the actual movement.
